Dear Members,

We hope this email finds you well and you are staying healthy and fit in these unprecedented times.

We appreciate that balancing life’s challenges and social distancing at this time is extremely difficult with the added pressure of our players not being able to play football in our club. You can rest assured we will have them back in Woodlands playing football as soon as it’s safe to do so.

It has been fantastic to see so many amazing football skill videos sent in from our junior teams and we hope all the children continue to practice and train whilst away from the club and competitions. We are continuing to work with our managers on activities to share with their teams to keep our players active and focused.

We would like to assure you our Board and administration team are continuing to keep the operations of the club going so we are ready to go once the grounds are allowed to open. Our pitches are in excellent condition due to our groundsmen continuing to maintain our pitches whilst adhering to social distance guidelines.

We would like to inform you of an important FAI announcement about the return to football. The recommended FAI pathway dates to return are as follows:

-         July 20th - Restricted training to resume (subject to FAI protocols which are to be agreed with HSE)

-         August 10th - Full Group and Contact training to resume

-         August 28th - All Matches can start back and all Provincial and National Cups from last season can be continued after August 28th

-         August 28th - October 11th -Individual local leagues can opt to finish the 2019/20 season and must apply to the FAI to do so before June 15th – DDSL and WDSL to confirm position on this.

-         October 15th The 2020/21 season will start

This announcement allows us to start focusing on firm dates and we will continue to update you over the coming weeks with our adjusted training plans to get our players back from July 20th whilst adhering to the HSE guidelines. All decisions will be subject to change on the advice of the Government agencies and the FAI medical team led by Medical Director Dr Alan Byrne.

We are disappointed our annual June mini league will be postponed and we are investigating running some mini tournaments at the end of August - start of September onwards, more details to follow.

With regards to our fees and absence of football over the last number of weeks, our next season fees are due on 1st September and we intend to discount these fees for returning members which are up to date with payments. We will communicate more detailed fees information over the coming weeks.

We wish you and your family continued health and look forward to getting back to football soon.

Kind Regards,

GUAFC Board
